Damanhour Felonies Court consults the Mufti to execute defendants in ‘Matameer Police Station’ case

On Monday 15th April, 2019, the eighth circuit in Damanhour Felonies Court has referred the papers of two defendants in case 2001/2015- middle of Damanhour, and known to the public as ‘The shooting at Abu El-Matameer police station’, to the Mufti for his opinion. The defendants names are; ‘Ahmed Nasr Obeid’ and ‘Mohamed Zayed Wae’r’. The court also scheduled the verdict session to be at 18th June, 2019.

Justice for Human Rights foundation-JHR condemns the unjust judgements against the citizens, affirms its appeal to abolish the death penalty in Egypt as it’s frequently used by the Egyptian authorities for political purposes, and also calls for a retrial of the dependents providing them , this time, with the standards and guarantees of fair trials.
