The Zaqaziq Felonies Court has referred the case papers of two citizens to the Grand Mufti asking for his opinion about executing them, for the alleged crime of killing a police officer. The names of the two citizens are;
1- Islam Sabri Abd Al-Hameed
2- Ahmed Abd Al-Haleem Abd Al-Hafeeth
It’s worth mentioning that the two citizens were arbitrarily arrested and forcibly disappeared, and while their enforced disappearance have encountered various types of cruel torture and threats to confess the fabricated crime.
JHR condemns the referral decision and confirms its call for stopping and abolishing the death penalty in Egypt and the middle east as it’s used by the governments to liquidate the political opponents, and also calls for retrying the citizens but granting them this time the standards and guarantees of the fair trial.
