Justice for Human Rights-JHR has received a distress letter from the families of the political detainees inside Burj Al Arab prison, west Alexandria, Egypt.
As the officer of interrogations in Burj al-Arab prison Sameh al-Sirafi has decided to prevent medication of all kinds to be provided to the political detainees.
When the families expressed their refusal of such violation, he said;
” I won’t allow medicines, let them die, and we will be able to get rid of them,” according to the families of the detainees – on Wednesday 10th October 2018.
Some of the families said that the reason for this obstinacy of the prison administration in preventing the medicine is the objection of the detainees to the detention of the body of Mohammed al-Rashidi for five days inside Burj al-Arab prison, who was the victim of the serious medical negligence and the absence of the necessary medical cae.
They also added that there is a situation of discrimination between the political and the criminal detainees – as criminal families are allowed to enter all kinds of medicine.
JHR calls on the Ministry of the Interior, the Assistant Minister of the Interior, who is the head of the Prisons Service, and the director of Burj Al Arab prison to stop the murders which are to be committed by officer Sameh al-Sirafi by preventing the entry of medicine to political detainees inside the priso, also to stop the negative discrimination between the political and criminal detainees regarding all rights, and to activate equality in the application of the law.
We also call for the application of the law and to respect the Standard Minimum Rules for the Treatment of Prisoners with regard to the provision of medical and health care and granting prisoners the right to receive treatment and medicine.
