Court of Cassation approves 12 citizens’ execution, 17 others to life imprisonment in “Agnad Misr”, Soldiers of Egypt, case.

On the hearing of 7th May, 2019, the court of cassation approved the judgments of Giza felony court, to execute 13 citizens, imprison 17 for life, imprison 2 for 15 years, imprison 7 for 5 years, and acquitting other 5. The defendants are accused of joining a group established in violation of the provisions of the law, possession of firearms and committing two murders.
There are 64 final and enforceable judgments that are issued according to arbitrary and summary procedures.
Therefore, Justice for Human Rights foundation-JHR calls for the abolition of the death penalty in Egypt, as the authorities use it to get rid of their political opponents, and also calls for the retrial of the accused but providing them this time with the standards and guarantees of fair trials.
