JHR has received a distress message from the family of lawyer ‘Ali Abbas Barakat’ after his health deteriorated in Shebin al-Kom public prison, and being transferred to Wadi al-Natroun prison, where he was stripped of his clothes and medicines, held incommunicado and prevented from entering the bathroom.
JHR condemns the violations against Ali Barakat, and calls for an immediate end to these violations and the accountability of those responsible. The foundation also affirms that the Egyptian authorities are fully responsible for his safety.
