Justice for Human Rights foundation-JHR has monitored the attempt of suicide of detainee in Tora reception prison ‘Osama Murad’ on Sunday, 21st April, 2019, as a result of the serious violations committed by the prison administration, which caused him to suffer a psychological crisis.
The prison administration deliberately put psychological pressure on him, including surprise search late at night and preventing him from the visit for a long time. The prison administration also refused to respond to the demand of other detainees to transfer him to the prison hospital for the serious deterioration of his health.
JHR condemns the medical negligence and the violations against the detainee, calls on the public prosecutor to open an investigation into the violations inside the Egyptian notorious prisons, and also affirms that the Egyptian authorities are fully responsible for the safety of the detainee ‘Osama Murad’
